SEASONAL HUNTING TRAIL CLOSURES
Respect This Gift. Be the Example.

Trails on public and private lands are a gift, not a right. That couple we just passed? They might own the land we’re hiking and riding on. Let’s be grateful for our neighbors and landowners who make these trails possible.
Most trails in Naples are located on lands managed for hunting. Some of these properties are closed to the public during hunting seasons. Hunting is a traditional and valued activity on public and private lands that supports land and water conservation with millions of dollars annually. Indeed, many of us are hikers, riders, runners, and hunters.
Access to trails is not a given. If we abuse this privilege, we will lose access to the trails we hike and ride. Unfortunately, some of our networks have already experienced this loss. Naples Trail Collective supports hunting and the enforcement of seasonal trail closures. Join us in respecting every seasonal hunting trail closure every time.

Hickory Ridge is a shared-use trail system located entirely on private land. All Hickory Ridge trails (and off-trail areas) are closed to the public to allow regular and late season deer hunting by permitted volunteer hunters during the above time period. In addition, Hickory Ridge trails remain closed between hunting season and spring each year to protect against damaging freeze/thaw conditions.
Open Year-Round
High Tor Wildlife Management Area trails remain open year-round. Respectfully share the woods and follow safety precautions this fall and winter. For tips on sharing the woods, check out this DEC video.
